Épitope: C-Term

Specificité: Recognizes complement component 7 (C7), a 110 kD glycoprotein present in the blood serum. The factor I domain of C7 binds the C terminus of the C5 alpha-chain, acting as a membrane anchor. This enables the assembly of the complement membrane attack complex (MAC) and consequent complement lytic activity. C7 deficiency is associated with increased susceptibility to recurrent infections, in particular by Neisseria meningitides. Note that Does not recognize membrane bound complement membrane attack complex. Inhibits lysis of sensitized sheep erythrocytes.
